Tips for searching the database

Our simple search page is a quick way to retrieve books based on their most obvious properties, such as author and title.

To take full advantage of the detail of the database, use the advanced search. You can refine your search by selecting as many fields as possible. For example by combining ‘history’ with ‘story’ your search will generate a wide-ranging list of historical fiction. By adding ‘Victorians’, the resulting list will be shorter and more specific.

Specify your subject or theme of interest. This could be a topic such as ‘Africa’ or ‘new baby’ or a teaching objective such as ‘spelling’ or ‘grammar’.

We are keen to receive suggestions about possible improvements. Please contact Sue Abbas if you have comments or queries.
