Various externally-funded projects have been based at NCLL as part of our ongoing commitment to research, including:
- Meeting the needs of Chinese students in British Higher Education
- Welsh Language Board: Evaluation of the efficiency and effectiveness of the Twf Project, which encourages parents to transmit the language to their children

- Interactive media in primary schools: perspectives on design and classroom use (IMPS)
- Multilingual word-processing in primary schools
- Literacy learning in Chinese and Sikh communities
- Family perceptions of literacy in the African-Caribbean community
